Position Available: Library Director

The Pickaway County Library Board of Trustees seeks a Library Director who is a creative and innovative thinker with strong communication skills. The ideal candidate will be a collaborative team leader, comfortable addressing conflict when it arises, and successful in promoting library services as the face of the library with infectious energy and enthusiasm for the organization.

Responsibilities: Under the direction of the governing Board of Trustees, the Library Director functions as the executive of the library; drafts suggested policies for the Board of Trustees, and successfully implements supporting procedures needed for the effective operation of the organization; prepares and presents monthly reports; represents the library at meetings and events; works with the fiscal officer to prepare an annual appropriation proposal and to implement controls related to library purchasing; seeks out partnerships with community organizations as appropriate; and guides the organization’s collection development practices to ensure material selection meets community needs and wants.

Qualifications: A master's degree in Library and Information Science and at least three years of professional library experience are required. Experience with supervising employees, working with a Board of Trustees, managing facilities and troubleshooting skills preferred.
