1,000 Books Before Kindergarten

1.000 Books Before Kindergarten

Early experiences and interactions are a key factor in a child’s brain development. The brain develops most rapidly during the first 1,000 days of a child’s life. The most important predictor of school success is being read to at home during early childhood. If you read just one book a day with your child, you’ll reach 1,000 books in less than three years. Enjoy reading with your little one and you can earn badges along the way.

To help you keep track, you can register at the Youth Services Desk or register here.

You'll earn an online badge for every 100 books you read and a certificate when you reach 1,000!
