International Games Day in Pickaway County
The Pickaway County District Public Library will join thousands of libraries around the world for the annual celebration of International Games Day.
The Main Library in Circleville will have events from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 16. The Floyd E. Younkin Branch in Ashville will host a Games Day Preview on Saturday, Nov. 9, from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Both library locations will offer board games and video game activities for the whole family. Friends of the Library will provide snacks. Everyone who participates is eligible to enter a prize drawing.
“Libraries are family destinations, and they continuously offer new programs and services that educate and entertain their users,” said Jim Guenther, library director.
International Games Day, an initiative of the American Library Association, connects communities through their libraries around the educational, recreational and social value of all types of games. This year, libraries on all seven continents will participate.
Gaming of all types at the library encourages patrons to interact with a diverse group of peers, share their expertise with others, and develop new strategies for gaming and learning. Plus, it's a way for traditionally underserved groups to have fun in the library and interact with other members of the community. Games Day is a great opportunity for families to play together in the community institution that welcomes everyone.
